I do love a challenge and working with Malachi for Charlie’s engagement ring, whilst he was posted away with work for 10 weeks leading up to his proposal date, certainly offered a few of them!
We had an initial discussion face to face and Malachi wanted a trilogy ring but wasn’t sure on round or oval diamonds. We talked about mixing and matching, and ultimately decided that I would get some examples to show.
Due to Malachi being away, all the stone viewing had to be done over photos and videos to account for the time difference. Sometimes this can be difficult to show the nuances of a diamond without the client being there in person. I showed Malachi some combinations of round and ovals in a trilogy and then we settled on three ovals. We chose our centre stone and then matched the two side stones accordingly, so the ring looked properly in proportion.
Malachi opted for a 0.6, E, VS2 central oval and the side ovals brought the total carat weight to 1.01ct, all set in platinum. With time of the essence, it was off to the workshop to get the ring complete ahead of the proposal
With a date to work to, and Malachi due back from working abroad, it was all systems go to get the ring through the Assay Office and ready for delivery. When Malachi opened the ring box for the first time, there was a moment of silence as it all sank in! A few weeks later, I received some stunning pictures of the proposal where they had been for a long hill walk. It was a glorious day and they both looked over the moon! Roll on the wedding!
"I would highly recommend Sophie's services, so much so that she is currently designing my now fiancées wedding band. Thank you so much Sophie for all your help!"
